In the world of sports memorabilia, few items generate as much excitement as rare baseball cards. The PWCC December Premier Auction is no exception, as it showcases two highly coveted cards from the T206 set, famously known as the Big Four. These cards have attracted the attention of collectors globally, making this auction a must-see event.
One of the standout items in this auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. Only 39 of these cards have received a grade from SGC, with an additional 21 graded by PSA. Despite its signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the rarity and value of the Plank card are unquestionable. The appearance of this card at auction is noteworthy, as it marks the fourth time this year that a Plank card has been available for purchase. Previous sales include an SGC 1 Plank card that sold for $75,000 in February and a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded $168,000 in August.
Alongside the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry "Magie" error card, another prestigious item from the T206 set. This card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee's last name and is considered one of the most renowned rarities in the collection, along with the T206 Honus Wagner and “NY Nat’l” Joe Doyle cards.
Apart from these historically significant items, the auction also boasts an impressive selection of Michael Jordan cards, showcasing the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Some highlights from the Jordan collection include the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals (#/50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies (#/50) graded PSA 8, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future (#/72) graded PSA 9, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades.
Furthermore, the auction features modern hockey treasures, such as the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA (#/12) and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA (#/99), both graded BGS 8.
The auction, which has already commenced, will accept bids until December 21st, providing collectors with a rare opportunity to own a piece of sports history. Whether you are a baseball enthusiast, a Michael Jordan fan, or a hockey collector, this auction offers something for everyone. So don't miss out on the chance to add these highly sought-after cards to your collection. Place your bids today and secure your place in the annals of sports memorabilia.
