MLS Scores Big with 2024 Topps Chrome Debut Patch Cards

Major League Soccer (MLS) has stepped into the spotlight of the trading card world with the launch of its 2024 Topps Chrome series, featuring Debut Patch Cards that have sent collectors into a feeding frenzy. Following in the footsteps of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) widely successful 2023 Topps Chrome Update, this new MLS release has quickly gained traction, especially with a special redemption card for none other than the legendary goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.

The momentous occasion occurred on December 7 at E and J Boutique in Brooklyn, NY, when Andy Wert uncovered a redemption card for Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card while delving into a hobby box of the newly minted MLS product. Hugo Lloris, a shining star in the soccer world, famously led France to a World Cup victory in 2018 and boasts a record 145 appearances for the French national team. His recent debut with Los Angeles FC in the MLS has only added to his illustrious career, making this particular card a prized possession for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Priced at a modest $120, the hobby box contains two chrome autographs, but it was the Hugo Lloris redemption card that stole the show, emerging as one of the most coveted items in the entire set.

The introduction of Debut Patch Cards in the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome series marks a significant milestone for the league’s trading card ventures. Featuring authentic jersey patches from players’ inaugural MLS matches, the set includes 35 exclusive Debut Patch Cards showcasing global sensations like Luis Suárez of Inter Miami, Emil Forsberg of the New York Red Bulls, and Federico Redondo of Inter Miami. However, it is Lloris’s Debut Patch Card that shines the brightest, seamlessly blending his remarkable international career with his entry into Major League Soccer.

While hobby boxes of MLB’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update have soared to $400 in the secondary market, the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome set remains an affordable option at $120 per box. With coveted Debut Patch Cards of Suárez, Forsberg, and other stars still circulating, fans and collectors are eager to join the chase to secure their own piece of soccer history.

The debut of Debut Patch Cards signifies MLS’s expanding presence in the collectibles realm, captivating a growing community of collectors seeking unique and valuable memorabilia. As more collectors rip open packs and hunt for these prized cards, the buzz surrounding the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome release continues to escalate. Hugo Lloris’s monumental pull has set the stage for an exciting journey ahead, leaving fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the unveiling of other iconic cards from the set.
