Historic Baseball Card Sets & Memorabilia Showcase at REA’s May Auction

Robert Edward Auctions’ May Encore auction is currently captivating sports memorabilia enthusiasts with a remarkable collection of over 3,600 lots. The auction is a treasure trove of sports collectibles, spanning from complete 1950s baseball card sets to rare vintage cards and even a check signed by Honus Wagner post his baseball career.

Kicking off on Thursday, this expansive auction is set to delight collectors for ten days. Among the early standout lots are the T206 White Border Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder card from 1909-1911 with a rare Uzit back and a Ty Cobb rookie card from the 1907 Wolverine News Postcard series.

The auction also boasts vintage baseball sets like the complete 1957 Topps Set and the nearly complete 1958 Topps set. Additionally, high-grade cards from the 1950s Bowman and Topps sets, including rookie cards of baseball icons such as Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Sandy Koufax, are up for grabs. Noteworthy is the complete set break of the iconic 1951 Bowman set.

Memorable memorabilia pieces in the collection include a ticket stub from the 1957 NFL Championship Game and a 1920 Real Photo Postcard featuring the Harvard football team that participated in the Rose Bowl.

REA President, Brian Dwyer, expressed his enthusiasm for the auction’s offerings, citing the exceptional quality of the lots following the successful $15.4 million spring sale. Dwyer emphasized the strong collector interest and the premium nature of the items available in this auction.

Collectors and sports memorabilia enthusiasts have the opportunity to bid on these coveted items until May 19 on the REA website. Each item starts with a minimum bid of $10. This auction not only provides a significant chance for collectors to acquire rare and high-end sports memorabilia but also celebrates the rich history of sports collectibles.
